    ​The Minister of Communications and Information Technology meets with the business sector and the technology and innovation community at the Asharqia Chamber.​

    In his meeting with the business sector at the Asharqia Chamber on Sunday, November 19, 2023, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawahah, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, discussed ways to enhance collaboration and mechanisms to continue leadership in the fields of digital economy and innovation. This aligns with the goals of Vision 2030 for the Kingdom.

    He encouraged entrepreneurs to continue developing their projects to keep pace with the continuous advancements in digitization and electronic transformation. The minister highlighted numerous opportunities in this promising sector, which is a priority in the vision, focusing on a knowledge-based digital economy and enhancing the capabilities of the information society.

    During the meeting, Al-Sawahah praised the keen interest of the business sector in the Eastern Province in engaging with the ministry's initiatives and supporting digital transformation. He acknowledged the efforts aimed at developing technical work in institutions and companies.

    On his part, Badr bin Suleiman Al-Rizeza, the Chairman of the Asharqia Chamber's Board of Directors, stated that the minister's visit reflects his commitment to meeting with the business sector in the region and engaging in dialogue with its members. He emphasized the significant attention the state gives to the field of communications and information technology, working to narrow the knowledge and digital gap between different regions of the Kingdom and diverse segments of society.

    Al-Rizeza confirmed that the recent successes were a result of government support and the concerted efforts of all relevant entities. The Kingdom was globally ranked second among G20 countries in the 2021 Digital Competitiveness Report by the European Center and the World Economic Forum. Additionally, it achieved third place worldwide in the Digital Government Maturity Index for 2022 by the World Bank Group, along with progress in various digital sub-indicators and other achievements in the technology sector in the Kingdom.​
